City Streets IV

Moving this image on again and there's a lot of changes; some obvious but many quite subtle.  At one point my notepad had a list of 25 changes to execute.
To name but a few; lights on in cafe, add moon, thin the drainpipes, reduce the railings scale, add steps / windows at end of tunnel, details of edna's room, add bicycle... and so on and so on. :)
Some of the details aren't so visible in this small jpg but on the full screen original the subtle colour effects and lighting is really working we...

City Streets part 3

I've taken my initial drawing and in planning for a painting, I thought I'd build a 3D CGI model of the composition so I could play around with the lighting and details for a while. Technology huh.

City Streets 02

My little sketch of Edna at the Window done. Think I'll now try some alternative treatments as I want to try it as a night or at least dusk scene.
Charlie is calling up to Edna to see if she wants to come with him to see Raging Speedhorn at Brixton tonight. He's got a spare ticket. Edna is contemplating her conflicting emotions.



I love these little narratives. It's a sort of flash fiction with another layer of meaning through the visuals.
Very Giles, very larson.

City streets - little stories

Work in progress. First sketch of new piece. Working name is Chaplin Steps. Possible painting of night or dusk scene. Guy on the sidewalk calling up to Edna at the window. Actually, that's a better title; "Edna at the window".
Once again, I cant resist making art that has little stories. I think it's a mixture of loving the 'History paintings' of the old masters and being fatally attracted to the works of Heath Robinson, Giles and Gary Larson ! LOL.
